Break the ice in your training sessions: The Team Navigator

The Team Navigator

To correctly start a workshop or training session, it is essential to focus on the team's communication process. Surprise your participants with the Team Navigator! This tool allows you to introduce an interactive programme into the workshop or training and guide participants towards developing the activity. This way, the training becomes an important team experience for the group from the outset. With the Team Navigator, you will foster cooperation and a positive group feeling from the beginning.

How is it done? All participants form a circle around the Team Navigator. Each person takes 1 or 2 ropes. The objective is to move the pencil from the centre across the sheet of paper and draw an arbitrary shape, for example, the company logo. Another possibility is to draw along a maze set up by the facilitator.

“Name Compass Symbolically, the team members draw their journey through the seminar, following the lines of a maze. They experience progress and the encounter of possible obstacles on the road in advance. Instead of giving directions in the usual way (“up”, “down”, “left”, “right”, etc.), participants must use each other's names (e.g., “a bit more towards Claudia and Tom”). This is an unusual way of learning names. The facilitator can also create a design in advance with facilitation cards folded in half with the theme hidden. When the pencil touches a card, the facilitator reveals one of the day's themes.

“Guide dog 4 – 6 participants put on the blindfolds. The others take the lead and verbally coordinate the activity. The “blind” person experiences the importance of sharing information; the “sighted” person discovers precise instructions that help overall success.
