There are activities that only work at night. Night orienteering raids are one of them.
With a headlamp, map and compass, teams of 4-5 people have to locate a series of hidden markers in a natural environment. Time is running out, darkness disorients and communication within the team becomes critical.
What we like most about this activity is what it reveals: who takes the lead when the situation is ambiguous, how the team manages disagreement on which path to take, who stays calm when the group gets lost.
In three hours of darkness, you learn more about your team than in six months of meetings.
