Last Friday, we provoked powerful interactions and authentic emotional responses within a team by delivering a training session with two of our most demanding challenges.
Leonardo da Vinci designed a portable bridge that could be assembled without tools. The participants' first task was to build a 4-metre-long bridge that would stand on its own, using 28 slats and without the use of any other implements.
To complicate the test, we split the group into two, each in charge of one side of the bridge, and to hinder agreements, we set up the scenario with communication limitations.
Later we challenge them to another excellent tool to continue exploring procedural coordination and structural change.
StackMan is a 15-piece structure that interlocks. Initially, they are given a visual guide to assemble it, and once they have it put together, it is taken apart and they must reconstruct it as quickly as possible, but this time without the guide.
The key factors for the success of both dynamics were optimal communication, cooperation, creativity, and a good fit between the two teams, a metaphor for the group's internal and external stability.
Thank you very much to Gemma Mateu for including me in your sessions, each occasion is a new opportunity to learn.
