Tuna

tuna tour 2

We love discovering new adventures during our holidays. We've travelled to the south of Catalonia, to L'Ametlla de Mar, where a unique activity is organised. It's about observing hundreds of wild bluefin tuna in their natural habitat, while feeding them and swimming amongst them. The experience starts on board a catamaran. The coastal landscape of the Costa Daurada and the Ebro Delta accompanies us during the transfer to the Bluefin Tuna fish farms, 2.5 nautical miles off the coast. During the journey, we are introduced to the history, fishing, and commercialisation of Balfegó Bluefin Tuna. Once moored at the pool, we are encouraged to swim among these enormous beasts. There is the option to do it via snorkel or diving. In our case, with flippers, goggles, and a snorkel, it was more than enough. They are thrown sardines, which they devour rapidly. They don't even touch you, but it's truly impressive how fast and big they are. Afterwards, we enjoy tasting this gastronomic delicacy. Another experience to recommend to our clients.
