When you least expect it, clients can throw you off with their bold requests and clarity of ideas.
A sports equipment company asked us to organise a night orienteering event in Collserola, the lungs of Barcelona.
Now that it's cold, it doesn't seem like an activity for everyone, but they insisted that everyone in the department is young and sporty. They weren't worried about the potential temperature they might face, everyone would be well-equipped with their brand's clothing.
Last Thursday the event arrived and luckily for us it didn't rain, if only for the organisation, as the client didn't care at all, “the experience would have been more epic”, they told us.
They had it all planned out very well, although they accepted our suggestion to hold the competition in teams rather than as an individual trial, for the purpose of promoting teamwork and fostering cohesion among the group members.
So we've taken our hats off to the enthusiasm shown for participating and competing, and for undertaking such a risky venture, as a nighttime, physically demanding sports competition is by no means a common corporate incentive.
