Game of Thrones

Last week we made the dream of a group staying near Girona a reality, a small group of friends who are huge fans of the series “Game of Thrones”.

It is not our invention; it has been a tourist attraction for years, exactly since 2015, but for us, it was the first time, and what a wonderful combination this medieval old town and a simple iPad offers.

We were contacted to prepare a route for them through the locations featured in the series, so we took them around the places seen in the seven episodes of the sixth season, a filming that has left a legacy of a guided tour highly appreciated by tourism.

In the series, Girona was the city of Braavos, where Arya Stark could be seen begging in its streets and, it must be said, they didn't really have to decorate much for it to be the perfect location. They removed some buildings, added a river or changed the background, but, for the most part, the city's medieval architecture was filmed as is.

As soon as we arrived in the old town, the clients understood the reason why Girona had been chosen to film part of the series. We recalled several scenes on our iPad, such as that of Jaime Lannister storming the cathedral steps on his white horse, perhaps the TOP scene of the season.

In a couple of hours of walking the route, we explored all the corners used to film the mythical city of Braavos, and no shields, armour, or swords were needed to feel like protagonists of Game of Thrones.
