Horse riding in Montgrí Park

A joy to ride a horse in the Montgrí, Illes Medes i Baix Ter Natural Park, a unique and special place where diverse landscapes converge. 

We are at “la Gola del Ter”, the mouth of the River Ter, in Baix Empordà, separated from the central part of the town of L'Estartit by a zone of wetlands that were rescued through the actions of the people at the time. 

Rarely has the strength of a people managed to halt a mega-investment that was going to transform the area into a venture with casinos and beachfront apartments. Many years later, the marshes were recovered as the poured concrete was removed, and it was impressive to see how, in just one season, nature resurrected.

And in this wonderful place, we were horse riding last week with a small group, an excursion across a plain of great beauty, full of crops, wildlife, dunes and native vegetation, always next to the sea and its extensive beach.
