Wordplay

wortspiel_1.pngListening, moderating, adapting to others and developing a common vocabulary, while having fun, is the objective of the Word Game.

How is it done?
Participants are given the pieces that make up the octagon (the number of pieces is proportional to the number of participants). The edges of these pieces have a symbol printed on them. Each symbol has a corresponding counterpart on the edges of another piece, as well as all those that make up the complete shape. The objective is to build the octagonal—eight-sided—shape and place them all face down on the table at once, without the symbols being visible.

However, the symbols of each person's pieces must be kept hidden. The key to solving this task is successful communication; describing the symbols with the right words to find the counterpart. But how can the team accurately describe their own reality, their own point of view? In this exciting phase, good self-organisation and moderation are especially required. When all matching shapes are found, the octagonal figure can be placed completely on the table. In reality, tension is rising… Has the team done a good job? Soon all will be revealed. With the help of a magnetic board, the facilitator turns over the complete shape, and the group can see the result of their own “communication”.
