Olèrdola Monumental Complex

This week we took a client to visit the ruins of the monumental complex of Olérdola, a settlement located on the mountain of Sant Miquel d'Olérdola, in the Alt Penedès region, whose origins date back thousands of years. The Olérdola site is a Cultural Asset of National Interest, within the framework of the Catalan Cultural Heritage Law.

We started the morning with an almost 2-hour hike along the circular route of Castell d’Olérdola. A 4.8 km trail of moderate difficulty, with just over 150 metres of elevation gain, a trek absolutely suitable for all the group members.

Then came the visit to get to know the cradle of Penedès. We walked among the traces left by our prehistoric ancestors, learned about an Iberian workshop where clothes were dyed, the imposing remains of a Roman fortification, the ruins of Olèrdola Castle, and the Romanesque church with its anthropomorphic tombs. Simply fascinating! Sometimes the best things are right on our doorstep.
